Utah is one of the top five driest states in the nation and is one of the fastest-growing. Our population will nearly double by 2065! The need to use water efficiently is imperative to meeting future water needs. Water conservation goals were established for nine different regions around the state for municipal and industrial water conservation in 2019. This is the first time conservation goals have been established on a regional level and they build on the previously established statewide goal of reducing per-capita use by 25% by 2025. By working together, we know we can reach and exceed these new goals!

The Utah Division of Water Resources is committed to taking water efficiency in our state to the next level. We partner with policy leaders, local communities, organizations, water suppliers and academic institutions to provide the tools and resources necessary for sustainable growth. We support water conservation through planning, statewide rebates, water-wise demonstration gardens, classes, certifications, online resources, social media and strategic campaigns. We are excited to see the conservation progress Utahns have achieved! All Utahns across all sectors need to continue to look for ways to use this precious resource efficiently.

- Do Your Part: There is not an entity or individual that shoulders all of the responsibility for, or is the exception to, water efficiency. We all need to do what we can to use water wisely.
- Every Step is Progress: Whether the improvement is fixing a leak, installing a low flow toilet, adjusting sprinkler systems and timers, or installing water-wise landscaping, we cheer the change.
- Efficiency is Utah’s Ethic: We do not conserve water because we have a wet or dry year. We are efficient because as Utahns we are not wasteful.

As one of the largest water providers in the State of Utah, Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District serves more than 700,000 people in the southwest portion of Salt Lake County. As a water provider, we recognize the need to protect Utah’s limited water supply and are constantly working to inspire, educate, and empower our communities to be waterwise.
To do this, we offer a variety of water conservation resources to the public. Homeowners can visit UtahWaterSavers.com for incentive programs like Flip Your Strip and Localscapes Rewards or to request a free Landscape Consultation. Our Conservation Garden Park demonstrates best practices for landscaping in Utah where we offer dozens of free or low-cost classes to teach Utahns how to install and maintain waterwise landscapes. All of this is done with the goal of creating a new water efficiency ethic in our desert home.
Washington County Water Conservancy District

The Washington County Water Conservancy District (district) is a pioneer in Utah’s water conservation efforts. The district was the first to adopt a water conservation plan, open a desert demonstration garden and achieve the governor’s state-wide water conservation goals.
Since 2000, Washington County has reduced its water use nearly 40 percent—one of the highest water use reductions in the state.
The district and its municipal partners are committed to further conservation achievements. Washington County is the hottest and driest region of the state and has one of the highest growth rates, almost tripling in size in the last 20 years. Conservation is an essential component of the county’s long-term water supply plan.

Weber Basin Water Conservancy District is one of Utah’s largest water providers, supplying water to over 600,000 people in Davis, Weber, Morgan Summit and part of Box Elder counties. Weber Basin is a wholesale water provider to most of the cities, other water districts and irrigation companies that retail water to their customers. Weber Basin provides primarily drinking water, but also secondary water for lawns and gardens, water for agriculture and industrial uses.
Weber Basin is very concerned with maintaining an adequate water supply to meet an increasing and growing demand and we recognize the need to protect and manage our limited water supply. It takes balance and cooperation to provide and manage the water needs of our communities, recreation, wildlife, environmental issues and the many other public uses of the water supply.
Through education and conservation programs, Weber Basin is working to change the way we view water and use water, especially on landscapes. There are free classes, the Learning Garden, online educational materials, and a host of other resources available to help our communities change water use ethic in our high mountain desert environment while maintaining beautiful neighborhoods and communities that we all enjoy. 2020 Classes & Events Calendar
